Horand Protected Area

The protected area of Horand, along with Arasbaran, is also a part of East Azerbaijan province and its endless beauty, an area of about 450 thousand square kilometers, of which 188 thousand hectares is covered with forest, of which 164 thousand hectares of Qara Daq or Arasbaran includes Ahar, Horand, Kaleibar and Khoda Afarin areas.

The protected area of Horand, along with Arasbaran, is also a part of East Azerbaijan province and its endless beauty, an area of about 450 thousand square kilometers, of which 188 thousand hectares is covered with forest, of which 164 thousand hectares of Qara Daq or Arasbaran includes Ahar, Horand, Kaleibar and Khoda Afarin areas. There are also 13,000 hectares of Arasbaran's pristine forests in this central part of Ahar and the Horand section, tall mountains and Gounan trees, natural resources and a variety of vegetation and animals that, in turn, are unique in the world. And it is a sign of the special importance of this region. Identifying more than 1,300 species of plants and trees, such as yew, hornbeam, oak, hazelnut, walnut and peanuts, are a natural and pure crop of Horand villages that are one of the most important productions in the region. Hoorand Wildlife is a unique vegetation cover and wildlife habitat including brown bears, wild pigs, foxes, jackals, wolves, black ears and birds such as Partridge, Chill partridge, Jay Jag, Red Beak, and Birds like the Golden Eagle, Hawk. Therefore, hunting in the area has been banned to protect these unique species. The climate is mild, mountainous, in the winter with short frosts and cool and desirable weather, and relatively warm in the summer with cool and sunny breeze. Due to the diversity of weather, soil fertility and the existence of agricultural traditions in Horand, cereal crops are commonly found in its foot hills. The main product of this sector is beans, potatoes, and many kinds of fruits.
